Watching the day slip slowly by
The summer breeze releasing me
I hear my mermaid lover sigh
As she drifts along the sea
I know that she ain't gone for good
For she'll be moving with the tides
To a house upon a hill
Of that good ol' countryside
There's fairies stopping for a drink
There's some sweet whisper in the air
Give me a moment then I'll sink
And you won't find me anywhere
For I'm a drifting in the wind
For come tomorrow I'll be gone
To leave this house fit for a king
And leave this shadow of a song

I was in the basement waiting
The candles on the bench were fading
The curtains let a beam of sunlight in
And all along I knew the answer
I knew that it would have to be her
She would be the one to draw me in
Seems these days I'm taking a turn for the worst
And I'm taking it slow
Washed up at sea but I'm dying of thirst
And only one way to go
Clouds they roll above my window
They seem to give me comfort I know
And all along I know just where I stand
But she's the one that brings the light in
She brings it out from where it's hidden
In a way I don't quite understand
Seems these days I'm taking a turn for the worst
And I'm taking it slow
Washed up at sea but I'm dying of thirst
And only one way to go
There is a truth and promise to hold onto
That cannot be seen
I'll be right here I'll be waiting for you
Where I've always been

Like the stars I will fall
But I'll be back come the break of dawn
It's not my place I hear you call
My mind is numb and my heart is torn
Remember me as before
It's not so long since I walked this floor
I fed the birds they wanted more
I wish I read the signs above the door
A rainbow faded into view
I saw it's beauty and it was you
You said it's mine you said you knew
And you promised that it was true
A swallow flew welcomed the day
He could not tell but he knew the way
What a thought nothing to say
But take a moment give it away

Six White Horses

It sure does feel not so long ago when everything was fine
We'd go for a drive up that winding road to spend a Sunday time
It felt like we had set the sails to a land afar
To a land afar
Though I know there won't be anymore vanilla afternoons
I wish you could see but six white horses took you home too soon
Around the bend of that old dirt road there stands a home of old
We'd lose ourselves and lose our time, listen to stories told
Our minds were light and burden free like the leaves in spring
Like the leaves in spring
Though I know there won't be anymore cola afternoons
I wish you could see but six white horses took you home too soon
I'd never seen him like that day it broke my heart in two
A speech of a lifetime and of heart, of a love so true
I'll remember well the day he knew like it was today
Like it was today
She had a voice of lady fair sure of what she said
She'd collect the things that they called old, she called them home instead
A wife, mother, and grandmother, she was more than this it's known
She was more than this it's known
So although she did depart and leave us with a hole
I know we are bound to cross paths at the curtain call
A toast to you and all your years
We'll see you sometime soon
